So does every hero start this way?

So where to start?...How about the beginning that's always good right? Ever since I was a young lad, tales of the old West have made me just feel alive. So when I turned the age of ten, I had been saving money from the time I was just a wee child, I bought my first bit of western gear...Goggles! Now I know what you might be thinking. Goggles?!?!?!? But yes I bought goggles, cause after all you don't want to get sand in your eyes XD. Then at the age of twelve I started to work in the mines of my city. We were a great and industrial sort in those days...before he came...but I'll get to that in a minute....Anyway, over the next eight years, I worked and earned enough money to get everything I needed, except for the most essential thing you need to be a true western...A pair of Peacemakers! I mean I had everything except for peacemakers. I had the goggles, the boots, the dusty trench coat, the slim yet durable blue jeans, and the ever so odd sideways belt with holsters...yet no peacemakers T_T. How could I try to say I was truly western without those? Just when I thought all was lost, a strange elderly merchant came into town with many artifacts from ancient times. So I thought to myself "Hey what have I got to lose?". I went to talk to the man but before I could even get to ask, or even hint at what I was looking for, he said to me "Of course I have a pair, just wait one second son." He then proceeded to took off his oddly large pack and pulled out the most beautiful pair of peacemakers I had ever seen. I'd even go as far to say they were prettier than my dear old mother...may she rest in peace....So as you would guess, having wanted these things for so long I couldn't wait to finally hold them myself, so I asked, " How much do they cost?" to my amazement he answered with this," Son, you don't know who I am do you? *(insert grin)* Actually, that doesn't surprise me considering that you live in this little town, but that's okay. I'll tell you who I am. I am the "Trader of Exchange". I don't sell things for money, I sell them for experiences." I couldn't really say anything to that. I mean, what could I say? Most people don't introduce themselves in that manner. So not considering what he just said I continued "Alright then what must I "exchange" for those peacemakers?" "Hmm...well son tell me something. Do you love this town, the people in it, and your family?" "Well Sir, I've lived here my whole life and to be honest I've never really thought about it..." "*(insert grin)* That's all I needed to know, for these Peacemakers, I will exchange you the time you would have with the people of this town and your family." Exchange the time I would have with the people of this town and my family? If I known what he meant I'd have never taken these cursed peacemakers. I was young and too in love with the idea of being a cowboy, so I agreed and took them. Then shortly after he said " Now you can't be angry with me, for what follows this was your choice...." I didn't really care what he was about at that point, I had what I wanted and I could take on anything and I knew I'd be okay, or so I thought. It wasn't too long after that that a Civil War broke out and it slowly started to spill into my town and consume it. A platoon of overly trigger happy marines that came in and just started killing everyone. My town wasn't prepared for something like this, after all, we were a peaceful town, and tried to stay out of wars altogether. Somehow and for some unknown reason, they had orders to come in a destroy the town because they had received 'intel' that we were making weapons for the enemy. They just came in with no warning. Bullets were flying everywhere. First my one friend fell, then another, then another. They all just started to fall all around me. I wasn't even touched, not a single thing touched me, it was if I wasn't even there to them. I really wanted to do something. I grew up with these people many of them were my friends. They all taught me things I would never forget, but there I was unable to do anything, frozen with what later I would call fate, but right then and there it was fear. As I stood there, I saw all of my closest friends die before me and I did nothing. What kind of friend was I, to just stand there and watch, not one muscle on my body moved. Then it happened...My mother was the last to die. They drug her out to the middle of the town and made her look at all the dead bodies and said this "You are the last one. What will you do? Cry? Try to Forget it ever happened? Or will you rise against us?" At that point in my life those words meant nothing to me, but they later became the words I would use for myself and live by. They then killed her...she was crying when it happened, screaming "WHY!" of course their only answer was "Orders are orders hun, even if we get a little out of hand*(insert grin & gunfire)*" It was all over at that point. Not even then could I move. All I did was watch. Not one muscle did I move to defend my own mother from death. I soon became outraged and decide to hunt down this "Trader of Exchange" and after him the men who did this to my Town! I packed my things and headed out the direction I last saw him go. It didn't take long for me to find him. Once I saw him, I immediately sprinted towards him drawing one peacemaker and picking him up with the other hand. When he was in the air I put the gun under his chin and started screaming "You took them from me! You took away my life!" He looked at me with a straight face; no sign of fear or any other emotion whatsoever. "You took them from yourself when you decided to trade for those two peacemakers you now carry so proudly. Now you wish to kill me with them. All I can say is good luck to you. I cannot be hurt once a trade has been made. So try as much as you will but I will receive no harm. Perhaps you should direct your angry else where hmmm?" I had nothing to say after that. It was as if all the strength and angry that I had left me when those words came from his mouth because of the painful truth they carried. I had done this to myself when I decided to trade for these things...and that's all they were and would ever be. Just objects. They could show me no love nor understanding. "Curse you!" I spat "Curse these things!" I promptly throw them into the surrounding area for I wished to see them no more. Much to my surprise they came right back. So I threw them back, and yet again they came back to me. "Why won't they leave me!" the man just simple said "We made a trade therefore they are yours and forever will be. No matter how hard to try to rid yourself of them." "Fine then! I will take these peacemakers and hunt down the people who took the ones I love away. I swear it! Until the last breath of my body is gone I will devote all my time and energy to finding those men and making them pay for what they have done!" It was then my destiny was made clear to me."Goodbye 'Trader'. I leave you to do your doings elsewhere, but be warn if we are ever to meet again I Will Kill You!" "Now Son, that would be quite an 'experience' now wouldn't it?" I slowly walked away from him now thinking about the thing I had just sworn to do. Would I be able to do this? I mean I've never killed anyone one before. Would I be able to pull the trigger? Another thing, I've never really shot a gun before. Honestly, I didn't really know how to. Then again there was a war going on I could just enlist...Then I could learn all I needed to know on how to kill effectively. Now the question was who do I go to, and where do I go to find them. I honestly didn't even know what started the war. It wasn't even real to me til it came to my doorstep.
